Split Square receipts
Split receipts from any Square-powered business
Square powers millions of businesses—cafes, restaurants, food trucks, bars. Their digital receipts work great for individual purchases. But when one person pays for the table, that receipt goes to one email. Everyone else has to trust their memory.
$47 coffee order. Four people. Two oat milk lattes, two cold brews, a muffin split by two people, a croissant. One person paid. Square sent them the receipt. Now figure out who owes $11.75 vs. $14.20.

Frequently asked questions
How does Square know my email?
When you use a card at a Square seller for the first time, you're asked for your email. Square links it to your card—future purchases at any Square merchant automatically send receipts to that email.
What if the receipt just shows a total?
Some merchants enter transactions as "custom amounts" without using Square's item library. In this case, the receipt won't be itemized. You can still use splitty's manual entry to add items yourself.
Does this work for Square Online orders?
Yes. Square Online orders send email confirmations with full itemization. Copy the order link and paste in splitty.
What if I'm at a Square restaurant but didn't get emailed?
Ask the merchant to print a paper receipt, then use splitty's camera to scan it. Same result, different method.
Is Square common?
Very. Square processes payments for 4+ million businesses in the US, from coffee shops to restaurants to food trucks. If you see a small white card reader, it's probably Square.
