Payment links that work for everyone
Not everyone has the Venmo app installed. Maybe they're on Android. Maybe they just never got around to downloading it. With Venmo Link, it doesn't matter— they can still pay you.
splitty generates a venmo.com payment link with the exact amount each person owes. Share it via iMessage, WhatsApp, email, Slack—anywhere you can paste a link. Recipients click it and can pay with their Venmo account, or with any credit or debit card.
Perfect for group chats
Picture this: you just finished a group dinner and you're in a group chat organizing the next outing. Instead of DMing everyone individually, you can drop each person's Venmo Link right in the thread.
"Hey @Sarah, here's your share: [link]" — One message, one click, paid. No chasing people down. No "I'll pay you back later" that turns into never.
How Venmo Link differs from regular Venmo
Regular Venmo (the deep link version) opens the Venmo app directly and sends a charge request. It's instant but requires the Venmo app to be installed.
Venmo Link generates a web URL (venmo.com/your-username) that you can share anywhere. The recipient opens it in their browser and completes payment—even if they don't have Venmo. This makes it more universal but requires an extra step (clicking the link).
splitty supports both. Use whichever works best for each person at your table.

Questions & Answers
Everything you need to know about splitty vs Venmo Link
01 What's the difference between Venmo and Venmo Link?
Regular Venmo opens the Venmo app directly on your phone to send a charge request. Venmo Link generates a shareable web URL (venmo.com/you) that you can text, email, or share anywhere. Recipients click the link to pay—even without the Venmo app.
02 Do I need to set up my Venmo username?
Yes. Go to splitty Settings and add your Venmo username (the one in your venmo.com/username URL). splitty uses this to generate payment links.
03 Can people pay without a Venmo account?
Yes! When someone clicks your Venmo Link, they can pay with a debit or credit card even without a Venmo account. This makes it perfect for friends who don't use Venmo.
04 How do I share the link?
When you tap "Share Venmo Link", iOS's share sheet opens. You can send it via iMessage, WhatsApp, email, Slack—anywhere you can paste a link.
05 Is the amount included in the link?
Yes. The link includes the exact amount owed, so your friend sees exactly what to pay when they open it.
